Jazz Puerto Rico (Jazz PR), founded in 1989 by trombonist and arranger Randy Zimmerman, is considered one of Austin's top Latin-Jazz and Salsa bands. Currently, Jazz PR headlines with El Paso's own sonero and percussionist Willie Hernandez. JazzElPaso Connection is proud to bring to our Sun City's stage this fiery concert showcasing the Caribbean sounds of Puerto Rican salsa with a song list ranging from the charts of "El Cantante" Hector Lavoe to the original arrangements of Latin classics and jazz standards.

EPYJE READIES FOR ALL-REGION TRYOUTS
The El Paso Youth Jazz Ensemble (EPYJE) has formed for the 2008-2009 season. This all-city high school jazz big band, under the "Education Initiative" of JazzElPaso Connection headed by trumpeter Marty Olivas and his staff Ricky Malichi and Martin Huerta, are spending these summer months in rehearsals. Soon the EPYJE will be trying-out for All-Region Jazz Band which takes place the end of September.
