El Paso Youth Jazz Ensemble at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino's Franklin Lounge on February 5, 2008
The Youth Ensemble was fabulous once again! Marty Olivas' direction is taking them to new heights with every performance.
These sophisticated charts represented the high level of achievement and professionalism of this ensemble:
"Straight Ahead"
"Hay Burner"
"Cha Cha Choo...Gesunheit"
"Self Portrait in Three Colors"
"Straight, No Chaser"
"Pink Panther"
"Haitian Fight Song"
"How Insensitive"
"Ive Got You Under My Skin"
"The Girl From Ipanema"
"So What"
"A Night in Tunisia"
They also performed one of Ruben Gutierrez's original compositions:
"Yet Another" with Ruben on keys.
The second set was SPECTACULARLY performed by the instructors/musical consultants, including Marty himself. Ricky Malichi, drum set,
Aaron Doyle, saxophones, Martin Huerta, brass and
Arath Corral, rhythm section.
The parents of these students were able to witness the superb talents of some of El Paso's finest musicians.
It was truly a magical night of music in El Paso!!
